Responsive Compassionate Relational

“Have you ever felt like no matter how hard you try, something inside keeps holding you back? Maybe you struggle with anxiety that won’t quiet down, trauma that lingers, or relationships that feel like they repeat the same painful patterns. If so, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out alone. Therapy is about finding clarity, healing, and a way forward that finally makes sense for you.”

James Brillon, LMFT, LPCC

Scared, confused, lost, hopeless? Stuck and don't know what to do? Call Me. I can help.

Affirmative therapy aims to benefit people with non-normative orientations through embracing a positive view of the whole person. It identifies the root causes of suffering while consciously embracing the multiple intersectional identities in a person’s life.

EMDR therapy seeks to bring your brain back to a state of healing itself from trauma which also tends to make this a good option for children and teens: not just adults. For many clients, EMDR therapy can be completed in fewer sessions than other psychotherapies.

Couples can learn to connect more deeply, communicate their needs in healthy ways, to listen and validate each other, and understand what is going on beneath the noise and discord. We will create a space where you will feel welcomed, accepted and safe. we will identify your goals and needs and how we can work together to help you achieve them.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy or CBT is among the most effective therapies as it generates quick results. CBT is an evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatment to address multiple mental health issues. including anxiety, depression, addiction problems, marital issues, and eating disorders to name a few. CBT helps people to understand the connections between their thoughts, feelings and behaviors and how to restructure and change them.

Addictions and Compulsivity

“Breaking Free from Addiction & Compulsive Behaviors”

“Do you find yourself trapped in a cycle you can’t seem to break? Whether it’s substances, sex, gambling, or food, addiction isn’t just about stopping the behavior—it’s about healing the pain that drives the behavior. You’ve worked hard to get here, and I’m here to help you stay on track, rebuild your confidence, and create a life free from self-destructive patterns.”

Depression & Anxiety

“Feeling Stuck in a Cycle of Anxiety or Depression?”

“Some days, just getting out of bed can feel impossible. The weight of anxiety or depression can leave you feeling disconnected, exhausted, and trapped in your own mind. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Together, we’ll work through the thoughts and emotions holding you back—so you can start feeling like yourself again.”

Trauma, PTSD & EMDR

“Healing from Trauma—Reclaiming Your Life”

“Trauma isn’t just something that happened in the past—it lives in your body and mind, affecting how you feel, react, and connect with others. Whether it’s PTSD, childhood trauma, or painful memories that won’t fade, healing is possible. EMDR and trauma-focused therapy can help you process the past so it no longer controls your present.”

Relationships and Attachment

“Struggling to Connect in Your Relationships?”

“Do you push people away even when you don’t want to? Do you crave closeness but find yourself shutting down? Are you always questioning if the love is real? Do you feel clingy and push people away? Attachment wounds from childhood or past relationships can make love and connection feel complicated. Therapy can help you understand your patterns, heal old wounds, and create stronger, healthier relationships—with others and yourself.”

I work with Men and Men's Issues

I know it takes courage for a man in our culture to walk into a therapist’s office and admit he needs help. From the time we are boys, we are taught to deny and suppress our feelings so it’s no wonder many men are lost when it comes to understanding and expressing emotion. And these are the keys to healthy, long-lasting relationships. The traditional role for men is to be an invulnerable performer.

And neither of these roles breed intimacy.

If you want more, if you want to learn how to be more empathic and connected and able to be vulnerable so your relationships can thrive,

give me a call.

Some Common Questions

I do not accept insurance, though I can provide you a superbill for insurance reimbursement, and I do so for many of my clients.

If you have a PPO type insurance plan, your insurance provider will reimburse generally 50-90% of your fees depending on your coverage and if you have met your deductible.

Every plan is different, so contact your insurance company and ask about working with an “out of network therapist”.

In some cases, the cost after reimbursement is similar to your copayment.

Yes, the relationship between a therapist and client is privileged and protected by law. So what is said in my office, stays in my office.

My fee is $200.
